We Subtle Mnemonicians We cannot be content to remain in our homes
with the wife and the kids and the dog.
We are simply not happy to work a full week
at some four-corner-cubicle job.
Though we no longer dream like we did in our youth,
we still happen to be much inclined
to dig up the memories we’ve hidden away
in those cavernous nooks of our minds.
We forget where we are and think back to before
and relive those days yet unsurpassed:
we strain to remember the long goodbyes
and we sleep with the girls from the past.
